Jodhpur News : Journalist Council of India, a National Organization fighting for the welfare of journalists, has sent a big suggestion to the Government. While appreciating some steps taken by the government, JCI has also raised the demand for recognition of digital journalism, e-paper and e-portal as soon as possible and their registration as per rules.
In this regard, senior journalist and Rajasthan State Coordinator of JCI, Rakesh Vashishtha, on the instructions of the organization’s National President Dr. Anurag Saxena, has written a letter with above suggestions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur and Chief Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. PK Mishra

On the demand of JCI, the Government has simplified some rules
Rakesh Vashishtha said that the Central Government has recently simplified some provisions in the new Press Act on the demand of the Journalist Council of India. In this sequence, the process of registration of small newspapers and magazines has been simplified, in which the facility of registration through online medium is also possible.
He said that on the instructions of JCI National President Dr. Anurag Saxena, he has sent a letter to the Prime Minister, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister and Chief Secretary of PMO, suggesting to recognize digital journalism as soon as possible in the interest of journalists and register them as per the rules. .

Digital Journalism cannot be denied
Senior journalist Rakesh Vashishtha said that today it is a digital era. In such a situation, digital journalism cannot be denied. Therefore, the Journalist Council of India, in its letter has recommended and demanded to recognize every type of digital journalism including e-paper, e-portal and to register and recognize all the small and big print, electronic and digital media journalists emerging on digital media as per the rules.
He said that JCI has demanded that the Government advertisements published in big newspapers in all the states should be published in small newspapers too, so that small media groups can also get financial support.

Journalist Protection Law should be implemented prominently
Rajasthan state coordinator of Journalist Council of India, Rakesh Vashishtha, said that incidents of assault and abuse against journalists working in the field have become common every day. Therefore, JCI has also demanded to implement the Journalist Protection Act prominently for the safety of journalists of all small and big print, electronic and digital media across the country.
He said that keeping in mind the health of journalists, JCI has also demanded to make cards under the Prime Minister Ayushman Bharat Scheme for all small and big print, electronic and digital media journalists at all district headquarters across India.

Financially weak Journalists should get residential plots at affordable rates
Rakesh Vashishtha said that in its letter, the Journalist Council of India has proposed to provide residential plots at affordable rates to the economically weaker journalists and to provide scholarships for higher education to the children of journalists of all small and big print, electronic and digital media.
He said that if a fellow journalist dies in any sudden accident during field coverage, the entire family faces a crisis of livelihood. Therefore, in such a situation, JCI has also requested the Government to provide financial support to a member of the victim’s family by providing Government assistance.
