Journalist Council Of India Announces One-On-One Fight For Journalists, Will Struggle For Safety And Rights

Delhi Desk : The Journalist Council of India, a national organization dedicated to the interests of journalists, has launched an one-on-one fight for the safety of journalists. JCI has said that the Government is ignoring the interests of journalists, due to which incidents of indecency and assault on journalists have increased.

Let us inform you that a virtual meeting of journalists from across the country was organized under the banner of JCI. This virtual meeting was presided over by JCI National President Dr. Anurag Saxena. On his call, all the journalists also announced to put pressure on the Government to enact a Journalist Protection Law for the safety of journalists.

During the virtual meeting, JCI National President Dr. Anurag Saxena said that the Government has completely ignored the interests of journalists. This is why journalists are being exploited at various levels. JCI’s fight against this will continue and journalists will not rest until the Journalist Protection Act is implemented.

He said that the Government should also take concrete steps as soon as possible for the recognition of digital media and its registration. Besides, it is also very important to give recognition to e-paper for print media. He said that the Government will also have to take effective steps for regional journalists, so that they can also live a life with dignity.

JCI National Convenor Dr. RC Srivastava said that nothing will happen without raising the voice. We have to fight for our rights, only then the Government will wake up and we will be able to get security and rights for ourselves. Today we all have to unite and fight for our rights.

Expressing his views, senior journalist and JCI National Executive Committee member Ashok Jha said that journalists are being misbehaved, they are being beaten up and fake cases are being registered against them unnecessarily. Such incidents will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Senior journalist and JCI Madhya Pradesh Convenor Harishankar Parashar said that the Government seems completely indifferent towards journalists. Due to this, anger has started rising among the journalists. Now the time has come for all of us to unite under the banner of JCI and fight for our rights.

JCI Bihar Unit Convenor Kunal Bhagat also expressed concern over Government apathy. He said that the Government is giving step-motherly treatment to regional journalists of print media and journalists of digital media. This is absolutely unfair and should not be tolerated.

Senior JCI official B Tripathi said that now the time has come to fight a big battle. Journalists will now have to unite and fight for their respect, safety and rights. He said that this fight will continue until some concrete law is implemented in the interest of journalists.

Expressing his views, senior journalist and JCI official Raja Awasthi said that journalists are hurt due to Government negligence. They are forced to fight their battle. Today we will have to leave aside the feeling of big or small and stand together and fight for our rights.

The journalists participating in the virtual meeting said in one voice that no political party is talking about the interests of the journalists, rather all the politicians are taking advantage of the journalists at every level. This is completely unfair. We will have to unite and raise our voice against this.

Journalists said that if this attitude of political parties continues, the Journalist Council of India will fight for the interests and safety of journalists on a large scale. This struggle will continue until some concrete law is implemented for the interest and safety of journalists.

During the virtual meeting, the journalists said that journalists are being harassed at every level and false cases are being filed against them. But the Government and officials are sitting with eyes closed. This is not tolerable.

Journalists said that before filing a case against any journalist, the matter should be investigated by a gazetted officer. Only after this, a decision should be taken whether to file a case against the concerned journalist or not.

The journalists in one voice also demanded a separate law for journalists including the Journalist Protection Act. Journalists said that while discussing the law to be made regarding journalists, advice of all registered journalist organisations should also be taken. Only if journalists are given security and rights, they will be able to live a life with no fear and dignity.

Journalists said that today journalists feel unsafe due to the wrong policies and negligence of the Government. It is the responsibility of the Government to remove this feeling of insecurity. During this virtual meeting, Jharkhand Convener Anshika Ojha, Dr. Ammar Abdi and many other journalists were present.
