JCI Jharkhand Opens Front Against Assault On A Journalist, Decided To Struggle Till Justice

Ranchi Desk : Journalist Council of India Jharkhand Unit (JCI Jharkhand) has taken a tough stand on the assault on a journalist. JCI has announced that there will be a vigorous struggle under the banner of the organization to provide justice to the victim journalist and for the safety of other journalists.

Let us tell you that on February 25, 2024, some people had misbehaved and assaulted Ashish Kumar Pramanik, the Editor of Panch Pargana newspaper published from Bundu. Ashish Kumar Pramanik was injured in this and also suffered internal injuries. It is claimed that the attackers had attacked him with the intention to kill him.

JCI Jharkhand Unit Meeting

In this regard, the laxity and the role of the Police were also questioned in an emergency meeting of the Jharkhand Unit of the Journalist Council of India (JCI Jharkhand), a national organization that fights for the interests and rights of journalists.

During the meeting, convened under the chairmanship of JCI National Executive Committee member Ashok Jha, concern as well as anger was expressed over the incidents of indecency and assault on journalists across the country including Jharkhand.

JCI National Executive Committee member Ashok Jha said that the incident that happened with Ashish Kumar Pramanik is extremely unfortunate and condemnable. The laxity of the police in this matter also raises doubts. Therefore, JCI officials will soon meet Senior Police Officers of the State to put their views and demand justice.

He said that JCI is fighting for the rights and safety of journalists across the country. This struggle will continue until the Government takes some concrete action in this direction. This is a very serious issue and cannot be taken lightly.

During the meeting, Ashok Jha talked to the victim journalist Ashish Kumar Pramanik and inquired about his well being. He assured the victim journalist that JCI is with him in this hour of crisis and every possible effort will be made to get him justice.

Ashish Kumar Pramanik told that he had recently published news regarding illegal sand mining in his newspaper. Due to this, the sand mafia is now after his life. There is a huge threat to his life from the sand mafia.

JCI Jharkhand To Fight For Justice

Other journalists present on the occasion said that the journalists who bring out the truth are being targeted and harassed in every way. Not only this, false cases are also being filed against them. This is completely inappropriate and a very worrying topic.

During the meeting, JCI has demanded from the government that before registering any case against any journalist, the concerned case should be investigated by a gazetted officer. Only after this should a decision be taken whether to file a case or not.

JCI Jharkhand To Take Strict Measures

Ashok Jha, member of the National Executive Committee of the Journalist Council of India, said that keeping in mind the interests of journalists and their safety, a separate law should be made for them. Only then will journalists who write and show the truth be able to live a respectful life.

In the meeting, JCI Jharkhand State Coordinator Anshika Ojha, Thakur Satyajit Pratap Chaudhary, Shubhendu Pandit, Akhilesh Kumar, Ranjit Kumar and many other journalists also presented their views.
