New Electricity Tariff Gives Electric Shock To Electricity Consumers! Know How Much Is The Burden

Ranchi Desk : Electricity consumers of Jharkhand have got electric shock. With the increase in Electricity Tariff, consumers of Jharkhand will now have to pay more for the electricity. Rural consumers have been burdened more than urban consumers. Fixed charges of rural consumers have also increased.

Let us inform that Jharkhand State Electricity Regulatory Commission has announced the electricity tariff for the year 2023-2024 on February 28, 2024 (Wednesday) in the capital Ranchi. According to the new tariff, now consumers in urban areas will have to pay 35 paise more per unit and consumers in rural areas will have to pay 50 paise more per unit.

Electricity Tariff Increased

According to the new rates announced by Jharkhand State Electricity Regulatory Commission, more burden has been put on rural consumers as compared to urban consumers. Earlier rural consumers used to pay at the rate of Rs. 5.80 per unit, but now they will have to pay 50 paise more i.e. Rs. 6.30 per unit.

Even in case of fixed charges, more burden has been put on rural consumers. While there has been no change in the fixed charges for consumers in urban areas, the fixed charges for consumers in rural areas has been increased by 50 percent.

Electricity Tariff in Jharkhand

Electricity rates for urban area consumers have been increased by 35 paise per unit. Earlier the consumers in urban areas were paying at the rate of Rs. 6.30 per unit, but now they will have to pay at the rate of Rs. 6.65 per unit. However, there has been no increase in fixed charges for urban consumers.

Let us tell you that JBVNL had proposed to increase the electricity rates of domestic consumers by Rs. 2.30 per unit in the new tariff. According to JBVNL’s proposal, domestic consumers would have to pay Rs. 8.60 per unit for electricity. But the Commission refused to accept it.
